Reiassan/Rin & Girey, after Relics and before In Context (both available in Tales for the Sugar Cat).
She’d been unbearable for the two days since they’d seen the abomination of an idol in the ruined border town: pissy, snappish, and pushy. Girey, who was unaccustomed to being ordered about at all, found this new facet of her far more annoying than her general chill demeanor.
There didn’t seem to be anything to be done for it, however. He tried swallowing his complaints and riding quietly, but that didn’t seem to help, and, really, this ride was rather abysmal, and she seemed completely oblivious to it. When he told her how bad the hard tack was, however, this time she snatched it from his chained hands and left him to go hungry.
