Okay!

So this is everything on the "Finish it" list from way back in 2016. (http://aldersprig.livejournal.com/1197753.html)
It's also newer stuff that's tapered off and stuff from "More Please."
Because what I'm going to do for NanoWrimo is write 1667 words of finishing something for 30 days. (or, more likely, 2273 words of finishing something for 22 weekdays).

This is way early, yes. There may be a poll-off in October. But I wanted to give people time to decide.

I fully expect to vote for 30. But which ones? I had two checked that were at a good break point, and two others that I'd forgotten about that I'd like to see more of. And all the (re)reading to figure out which to check and which not...

Yes, that's the problem. Even after assembling a link list, there are so many things to review. And then with so many choices, and a quirky distribution of choices, what am I actually saying with my votes? If I vote for both of the named segments of a story, is that extra weight for it, or is a vote for the less-chosen segment wasted? (Did I by calling out that A was a part of B in a couple of cases eliminate those as meaningful options? Is that good or bad?) What about distribution across verses? There are a *lot* of Aunt Family choices on the list (whyyy are people voting for bless the cat and legacy cat over cat's paw?), and I want them all; there are not so many Dragons Next Door choices, and a couple of those are at reasonable chapter-end points, but I want that 'verse just as much; there are no Fairy Town or SCIENCE! (or Planners, but I probably would've let that slide anyway) options on the list at all. (Science is mostly stand-alones, but then there are the giant chickens, and Jason and his roses, and ...) Unicorn/Factory and Things Unspoken both have loose ends all over the place that I'd love to see followed up, but they're both creepy sometimes reading, not love-them-all-the-time. Then there's balancing the stand-alones, that might actually finish as single storylines instead of becoming sprawling webs, against the 'verses with a lot going on, and the more or less developed ones against each other. I picked Mikary, Space Accountant, and Portal Closed, which are in very different phases of development, and all older, but that involved coin-flipping vs Arisse and Chress, the Princess in the Tower, and other stuff (that mostly didn't make the list); but even if it weren't coin-flipping, would it make more sense to vote for the things with more recent activity or interest rather than the ones that seem pretty much forgotten?

Also, comparing choices with sauergeek was entertaining, but not as influential as I expected. :)

Yeah, it’s a really big leap to ask people to take. Maybe I’ll take the top 40 and break them down into 10-option polls like, 2 in September, 2 in October.

Well, some possible sub-questions: do you want to get a sense of distribution of interest across 'verses, or across specific stories? Do you want a priority thread in each 'verse? Do you want to bias towards things that are already close to finishing, or perhaps have a separate poll to prioritize among things that are within spitting distance of finished? Do you want to take eseme's suggestion and prioritize things that have good publication potential?

Um, mostly for Aunt Family and Dragons Next Door. Cause, me. But you know I like those.

I was surprised to see only one from Stranded, I will HAPPILY vote for more of the siblings, I love them all, I adore Summer's triad and Spring and her theater friends. Winter and the woman with her kids - did that one get finished on Patreon or back channels? And Autumn, I do want to know more. Anyway, much yay on that setting.

I really do feel that there is enough Aunt Family that you could spend some time finishing stories and tying up some of the threads, to put out a book of stories.

If I do a book of stories, it will be in the late winter, January or February. There are enough current projects in the air.

<looks mildly guilty> I think you pulled from my suggestions in blocks, though, which got you all the Aunt Family links, and only a few of the DND ones, as sauergeek got to those before I did, and none of Fairy Town or SCIENCE! or most of the standalones. IIRC I was annoyed about Stranded at the time for some reason I've forgotten, and so left that one for sauergeek to pull together, and apparently only picked a couple from Planners. But yeah, I skipped past Addergoole and Tir Na Cali and Vas's World and Facets of Dusk (though sauergeek got that one, too), but wispfox and rix_scaedu picked up some of that ...

You put Scheffenon in for the "other" category. "Linguistic Tricks" in the poll is part of the R is for Ritual, Linguistic Tricks, and Finish It: Scheffenon sequence which is sort of the main Scheffenon story, though there also others (not in the poll). Black Coral is one such standalone, if you haven't found it yet and/or don't mind skipping around while catching up.

For Stranded, sauergeek had some suggestions here, if that'd be useful (though being from the Finish It bingo those are all at least a year and half old).

The first two Edally Academy novels are done! aldersprig says there will be a third in that sequence but has not started yet. (It showed up on a recent short-term writing prioritization poll but was not a top vote-getter, being beaten out by more recently active threads.) I hope there will be ebooks, but can see where waiting for the trilogy to be complete first might make marketing sense.
