aldersprig: a red-heded freckled girl, smiling (Autumn)

To Eseme's Request.  After all of the Tattercoats stuff.

As the rain was coming down in torrents most often reserved for biblical events, Autumn had decided on staying in for a night, not in a motel — the town wasn’t big enough or on a major enough route for that — but in a bed-and-breakfast that didn’t seem too full of itself.  She was sitting in its common room — which still looked much like a family living room of 100 years ago — drawing a fantasy scene of the same room when the door swung open.

He looked drenched, drowned-rat incarnate, his jeans holding out from his legs like they were their own creatures.  He walked like his feet had moved past sore and on to misery a few hours ago.

And he looked familiar.  “Edmonton!”  She wrinkled her brow.  “Wait, not just Edmonton, either.”

Oh yes! *smiles*

Thank you! What a lovely birthday present.

I think Autumn probably has a larger web of friends and people who care than she might think - people from different Ren Faires and galleries and festivals. There are people who care about her for her, and with Tattercoats gone they will step forward.

And new people like Calvin. It is good to see. Smiles. Thanks.

Thank you! I had a very good birthday this year, thanks to you and other friends.

I think we all tend toward that - overlooking connections. It is easy to do. Autumn can at least sit and look at her Strands. Going in and going out. She seems the type so focused on helping others that she does not do the check on herself much...

Hugs. That is what friends are for. Smiles. You do nice things yourself.

Yeah, I can see how Strand Workers can forget to Work on themselves. I think maybe they need regular checkups, in a mystical sense?

But the right-hand sidebar listed some of your works, starting with this title, and THAT was linked properly:

<warm fuzzies>

Still kinda stalker-y, though. Hopefully Autumn is also working on her people-judgement and not relying entirely on Summer's charms ...

Ooh, fun! I would be totally creeped out by this guy but it makes sense that Autumn isn't.

I'm confused about the Edmonton thing. She greets him with "Edmonton," as though she recognizes him from there, but then later says "how did she miss him in Edmonton"?
