They're invoking two different astronomical bodies with the full moon and the solstice, possibly three if you count the earth. Usually with aspected gods, the sun and the moon are assigned to different deities.
That bit about "a gift of the gods and must be treated such" suggests dire consequences to someone who fails to treat it as such a gift. Prometheus stole from the gods — not quite the same as misuse of a gift, but at least parallel — and his punishment was severe. At best, I expect a misused deific gift to be taken away. I wonder what the deities doing the giving will think of someone else trying to harness the power of the gift? Particularly if the giver and the god they're trying to raise are different entities.
