“We’ve got it!”

Miranda    Graham hurried into her boss’s office, waving a stack of papers and grinning from ear to ear.

“This is going to be the one.  I know it, I just know it.”

“That’s what we thought about Sweetheart Day.  And Grandmother’s Day.  And Kiss-a-Friend Day.”

Miranda winced. “Kiss-a-Friend Day was a mistake,” she allowed.

Nope. Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope. Set the office on fire and run screaming. Trying to raise gods they know next to nothing about is a terrible, terrible plan.

Waking a sleeping god? I suspect that's probably a bad idea. Possibly as bad as disturbing Cthulhu: "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming".

I also wonder about what sort of god it is, or if they even know. They're invoking two different astronomical bodies with the full moon and the solstice, possibly three if you count the earth. Usually with aspected gods, the sun and the moon are assigned to different deities.

That bit about "a gift of the gods and must be treated such" suggests dire consequences to someone who fails to treat it as such a gift. Prometheus stole from the gods — not quite the same as misuse of a gift, but at least parallel — and his punishment was severe. At best, I expect a misused deific gift to be taken away. I wonder what the deities doing the giving will think of someone else trying to harness the power of the gift? Particularly if the giver and the god they're trying to raise are different entities.

It sounds powerfully magical, but will anyone participate? ...And do you really want to wake the sleeping god?
