They had never seen each other in person.  An entire nation - the width of an entire continent - divided them.  But looking at maps online, chatting across the internet, they agreed.

Minor nit: it's actually a national forest.

I like this, in no small part because I have friends online, on the opposite coast, who I've never met in person. Though I suspect my chances of survival in a zombie apocalypse would be near zero, unless the treadmill trick worked...
