Hello to all and a Merry/Happy Christmas!

Today I'm spending the day at home - except possibly sushi in the evening - and I'm writing!

So:

I will write a short Christmas vignette in any setting of mine you’d like to see (or appropriate winter holiday) or to a (winter-holiday-themed) prompt of your choosing.

(If this floods me, I may end up writing these over the next week~ )

(Including during the Wednesday Write-a-thon)

Autumn at Christmas?  Winter Holidays in Reiassan, Tír na Cali, Vas' World? Sure!  Space Mom Christmas?  I'll manage something!

And on Wordpress…

Hrm. We've already seen some holiday celebrations in both the Aunt Family, Stranded, and Dragons Next Door, though I would quite happily see more. (The Aunt Family Christmas gathering at the Aunt House when Beulah was Aunt! Winter at Christmas! Neighborhood cookie exchanges in Smokey Knoll!)

The echo of an ancient solstice celebration in Fairie Town. (Possibly dating back to the original people of the time before the city was settled, or whatever ancient solstice rite you prefer.)

Solstice in Unicorn/Factory, whether from the unicorn side or the factory side. Does either side take a break?

What rituals are required of the Emperor in Things Unspoken, to keep the empire together? What ones have been inherited without knowing their purpose from later-acquired lands such as the country that used to contain Scheffenon? (I'm thinking along the lines of some of the inexplicable but believed necessary rituals in the book of ritual from Peake's "Gormenghast" triogy.)

One crew member from Space Accountant comes from a place that has a solstice celebration that is distinctly not tied to whatever standardized year the ship uses. How many people join in on this — and how do they join in — just because it's fun or because the crew member talked them into it?

I like all these suggestions, but especially the last one. Mind you, why should any settled planet use some ship's calendar-- even if it's an interplanetary standard for ships-- unless it's derived from their own calendar, or by some weird chance equivalent to it or compatible with it?

The prompt that comes to mind for me is not fantasy at all, though it could fit in any number of verses: playing in the snow and rolling in it laughing.

What [personal profile] sauergeek said, and more! :)

Winter celebrations with the Tinies. (With a package of jumbo marshmallows and two inches of fresh powder?)

ETA: More hot cocoa scrying with Eva and Beryl and Stone. Or more magic-bearing treats for the bake sale? (What does "a little extra help" look like in action?)

Observances in the crossroads park in Fairy Town. Possibly planting a (memorial?) tree or decorating for a party?

And yes, I'd love to hear more about some of the planetary cultures that have been brushed past in Space Accountant -- including Genique's. Anything she's homesick for, even if she mostly didn't fit in there?

clare_dragonfly: This is ridiculous. What am I doing here? I'm in the wrong story. (Into the Woods: wrong story)

Kai and Rozen celebrate Christmas/solstice--or are inconvenienced by Christmas/solstice celebrations--while on the road.
