It took Desmond, Jefshan, and, to his surprise, Wesley, all working together, to get the group back on track.  “Desmond can go exploring the spare stairs tomorrow on his own time.  Right now, we’re working on getting to know our collars, remember?”

It wasn’t a rousing endorsement, but a pointed reminder from Jefshan about exactly how bad their collar rapport class had been got Kayay coming up with a question, and they were back to doing round-robin questions.

Some – collars –
I rather want to know what other word(s) it opted not to use, there.

The new class has only just figured out that the collars are people, and hasn't asked anything about names or what they want to be called at all yet. They could, individually or in one of their practice groups, if you want them to.

Their collars are people, indeed. That's an important conclusion to come to, I think.

Collars are definitely people. Whether they used to be people in the way that Jefshan or Cataleb are, or if they're a different sort of people is still an open question.

I would be extremely surprised if they didn't have names. But I'm going to go out on this stout, sturdy branch and say that's a "not yet" question if our communing crew actually asks it.

...this school is still doing everything bass-ackward. I certainly hope that someone in the current class — or one of the ones ahead of them — finally realizes it and fixes things. Or at least, if the bizarre ordering is necessary, provides an up-front explanation.
