Last night, I was feeling like I was running on one cylinder and running out of gas, but I play this writing game, 4theWords, and I really wanted to move up one step on the leaderboards for battles.

Which meant 4 130-word (or so) battles.

So I asked for suggestions on Mastodon, and this is what  came of it.

Well, technically, two of these weren't even from suggestions...

But anyway!  Words!

Oh, I love the first one. There's a lot packed into it, and it stands alone, but could also very well continue, while implying a much, much bigger story.

The others are fun too. Cya would latch onto "scalpel," wouldn't she?

1) That is a doozy of a setup, and ends with what's likely an "oh shit!" moment. I hope he knows how to handle the Nightmare when it's in his room. Or is he, himself, the Nightmare this time around?

2) Maybe Tom is still hitting him, and he's just grown too big to notice. Tom is about to have a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, assuming he's not already squished. Blue Öyster Cult's "Godzilla" comes to mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GtTyC53kjU

3) Yep, still not liking Ghost Story. Mind rewriting? Bleah.

Am I missing a fourth? I only see three, though Filling the Boots is long for 130 words. (292, says a wordcounter site.) Does it count for two?
