Oh, good. Leander did everything he could to look relaxed and not like he was bracing himself.

“This is not exactly fair, you realize.”

“No.  But it doesn’t have to be.  Go.  If for no other reason than he has to be uncomfortable out there waiting.”

“Fine.”

Her body language was 100 percent different. She’d gone from acting like a teenager to acting like an adult; she didn’t flounce but stalk; she wasn’t sulking, she was considering.  She walked up to Leander and held out her hand.  “Hi.  I’m Sylvanie.”

At least she's not gone instantly into a tantrum, and is actually considering this. How much of that is the "one big thing per year", and how much of it is her own initiative?

Now she's trying to shock him, or at least that's how I read the end of this. And I suspect that Leander is going to respond to this with the equivalent of "don't you try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.".
