The natives just slipping away or joining communities sounds deeply suspicious. Usually people are not so sanguine about giving up their homes. It's possible there were mass deportations, or large-scale die-offs from diseases the newcomers brought, or any of the other problems that colonizers bring to a new population. Quiet integration is hard to believe.

Kael's concept of types and trustworthiness of information sources is remarkably advanced for her being a member of an uncivilized tribe. But they seem to be going along with it without realizing that they've already accepted it.

I see that we may end up aiming somewhere near Lies My Teacher Told Me, if not all the way to A People's History of the United States.

Now to see what Kael finds out, and her potential apprentices, too.
