Dunno, if Lazarus Long ever got locked up like that, I can see Lapis Lazuli and Loreli Lee pulling things like that to spring him if nothing else worked. Though if they had Gay Deceiver available, it might not have come to quite the result that ends here.

Yes, this is a mean story, but it's at least in part redemptive: the bad guys get their comeuppance, and the downtrodden get to escape their plight. That the downtrodden are the instrument of said comeuppance is a rather twisty form of just desserts. The question now is, what will the newly freed combatants do? Particularly those who aren't our nameless narrator and his allies. Will the Lion stop rampaging?
