Warning: a bit of horror. 

He took another long sip of rum, he walked around their group twice, pacing, but nobody was going to let him get out of telling the rest of his tale.  So he sat down on a stool someone pushed under him.

“I told them that I was good at digging, of course.  And he looked at us, the two of us, and that old man smiled.”

“Well!  Then the flowers are going to love you both.  Come on in, now. I’ll get you set up in the Inn until the Ladies decide where you’re going to be working.”

Well, that sounded better than anything else that I’d heard, I have to admit, and from the look on his face, my cousin felt the same.  So in we went, ha, to the Inn.

...and now we have likely seen what was keeping that place so nice on the surface, and why they needed only a picket fence: the actual horror was on the inside. I can make wild guesses as to what was actually going on, but I think I feel no particular need to find out. (Well, that, and Death by Snu Snu, but I don't think this was in Amazonia.)

Eeee. That's some well-done horror--terrifying, but only showing the actual horror through hints and sidelong glances, no gore.
