But where do they store all that acid breath? Or is it one blast per tiny lizard and then a loooooong recharging period (if they survive)?

Nit: "in the center of this down, one lizard" down -> town, I think.

I wonder, in looking back at this, if it's the long recharge time that makes people think it's only one in ten. What if all of them can do it, but take two weeks to build it back up for another shot?

If we're going to explore this rathole ...

What do they fire the big cannon for? Can they control how big a burst they use? Do they use it as a self-defense mechanism? Do they use it for hunting? Do they *have* to fire it once they build up too much acid, and someone grabbing (or even startling) them if they're full-ish sets it off regardless? It's a crossbred magical add-on, it may not be well-integrated with the rest of their patterns ...

Could be! You're the author. I'm just the curious git who asks questions about details and interactions and corner cases. :) In this case, "it's a weird magic add-on" covers a lot of ground if you want it to, though if it's been generations since the original kaiju IMO it's more interesting if evolution has been doing its thing putting this feature to work.

OTOH, this is a story in a story, and may not reflect the truth on the ground in-'verse.

I love how you worked the small lizard with the kaiju ability into a 101 Apocalypse Nights tall (or perhaps not-so-tall) tale. It fits beautifully.

I suspect the big breath in the bitty lizard is the after-effects of fae godling magic.

And I really like the 101 concept. I look forward to finishing it some day.
