The Hidden Mall 37: By a Thread

Abby didn’t scream. Later, it would occur to her as strange: her heart had dropped she’d grabbed for the ropes around her, but she hadn’t screamed.  She hadn’t made a sound. But as soon as she had any sort of handhold, she’d looked for her Livs.

They were both fine; Vic was fine, if gaping.  and her shoulder was suddenly yanked as all of her weight fell onto her hands grabbing onto the thinning ropes.

The pavement was a long, long, long way below.  Someone else was screaming - someone near her, someone who had been too close and was scrambling backwards, reaching forf some sort of support.

Abby looked at her Livs.  She looked down, down, down at the pavement.  “There,” she grunted. “up there, on the left.  Meet me there.”

“But you-”

Sunshine! And new flavors of not-even-a-little-okay in the mall. (I am still baffled as to why the Livs kidnapped this Vic without explaining much of what was going on. Yes, Abbe wanted more people, but share your clue, kids! Even if you haven't got much clue yet, you have more than this Vic does.)

I'm suspecting more and more that the mall is actively out to do in Abbys. The entirely too (in)conveniently timed failure in the previous story, the ongoing failures of the knots, the lack of help from anyone around who might've been of use, all points that way. I think that army of Livs (and maybe Vics? This Vic hasn't fled the scene yet...) is definitely in order. As is explaining to this and any other acquired Vic what's going on.

Is this a place that can be escaped by jumping the wall? Or will they just end up in another part of the mall if they try going through something other than a proper door?
