Haunted House 20: Girl Talk

Mélanie sat with the wealth of clothes on her bed - her bed, her room - and was unsurprised when they began to carefully hang themselves.  “I don’t suppose you do alterations, do you?” she asked the air. The clothes would fit her, mostly, but the very nce trousers would look nicer if they weren’t cinched in three inches with a belt.

The hanger tilted side to side thoughtfully.

“Maybe?  Sort of? Requires you to talk and you’re not a big fan of talking?” Mélane guessed.  She had no idea if the house could talk and, if it could, why it didn’t.

But on the last option, the hanger started tilting forward as if nodding.

Aww yay, they're becoming friends! I hope she finds out the reason for, or truth behind, the deaths and mindlessness.

Also to be fair on the assumption, Jasper has been referring to the house with feminine pronouns.

I am imagining the special effects involved in making this segment into a movie scene. Given the clear telekinesis effects, I'm also imagining a later scene with the house dancing with either Jasper or Mélanie a la Fred Astaire with the hat rack.

Sometimes just having someone listen is the right thing.

I'm pleased to see at least some degree of two-way communication between the house and Mélanie; this oddly has me less worried about the house as an entity.

(Also, as I spell "Mélanie" by copy-paste — I have no idea which accents are which — I've also managed to notice a misspelling as "Mélane", as that's the one I grabbed on first try.)
