Monday on a Tuesday, again

This weekend I Freecycled a scythe. Everything else sort of pales in comparison to driving across the city with a scythe across 3 seats of my sub-compact car. :-) And T. is absolutely thrilled.

Sunday, we went hiking in Finger Lakes National Forest, managing to avoid being mistaken for deer. It was a beautiful walk, albeit very very muddy, and we spent the time discussing the history of homindae and worldbuilding Reiassan. I <3 my husband.

Saturday, I went shopping with my mother and T. & I had our turkey feast. Nom!

Friday, I did my black friday shopping at Tractor Supply. We bought a woodburning stove, a carhart, and a flashlight. Yep, we live in the country.

And Thursday I had the quietest day of work ever!

Freecycled /in/ a scythe, not out. We're thrilled to have gotten it.

Mom used to use a scythe occasionally, but she preferred her sickle for a lot of things. I gave up and got a gas powered "string trimmer" which we use for trimming along the mile of road to the house and under fences when the grass is growing up into the electric fence strands. A scythe would work under some of the fence lines but along the road it is so steep I think it would be hard to make a hand tool work.

The new property came with 3/4 acre of... meadow... and a lot of brush. T's been wanting a scythe since we made the offer, and has been making do with a machete he found behind the garage here.
