(* week before first sunday: old students arrive)
* First Sunday: New Students arrive
* First Monday: Classes begin
* First Friday (probably lunch): the "reveal" of the Changes. Many students don't drop Mask now, however.
* First Saturday: first dance. In theory, every second saturday after that
* Second Thursday: theoretical mentor-choosing deadline
* Second Saturday: Hell Night
* Third Monday: Magic testing, magic classes begin
* Magic classes switch off every 2 weeks.

Anything I'm missing?

I don't think you missed anything.

Out of curiosity: how do they determine the order of magic classes? I know how they pick the first couple, but what about the rest of the year?

They arrange in a combination of strength and splitting up cliques - so, for instance, Mark & Kylie were both equally strong in Hugr, but took it at separate times.

After the first few, I'm really not sure, either!

After the first few perhaps more of less a matter of, "whatever fills in the gaps on the schedule"?

"Let's see. We're down to two Hugrs, so put them down. Five Kwxe... Wait, if we include him in Kwxe this time around he'll be the only one for Buli in the next group so put him in Buli now and Kwxe next..."

I'm so excited to start reading the year 9 series. I am sad about not having the original flavor anymore, but at least my excitement for the new series softens the blow!

Anyhow, I happened to glance at your twitter and saw that you needed more characters. Are you open to character suggestions from ordinary readers? I've an idea for a guy that I could share if you would like to hear it.

I'm open to character ideas - my only concern is control issues. I.e., once they're in my story, I need to be able to write them without worrying someone else is going to yell at me (I've had that happen, can you tell?)

Oh yes, I can see how that would be worrisome. I'm not a writer so I would not care how you used the character. I just sometimes like to think about possible characters and then I kinda get carried away in my mind. I have a pretty boring job so I have lots of thinking time!

OK, here goes my suggestion. If you ever add a person like him I promise to not be upset about any new developments or changes!

He would be an older student, near the high end for a first year at Addergoole. He is about 6'2", has black hair and brown eyes. He is probably of Italian American background. He grew up on the east coast, maybe in New Jersey. He was raised by a single mom. He is very classicly handsome, and he knows it! He was one of the popular kids in high school, maybe even a bit of a bully. Before Addergoole he was quite the ladies man and would sweet talk girls and promise them the world but then neglect to call them back the next day. Defiantly not nice guy material!

His change is starfish inspired. His skin turns into orange starfish skin. The palms of his hands have starfish suckers (maybe the soles of his feet too, not sure). He loses his external ears and only has a small ear hole that indicates where his ears are (like a lizard might have). He has no hair anywhere. His nose probably flattens out a bit.

His innate is the ability to re-grow limbs. It is possible that someday he will be able to control his severed limbs. Think zombie hand puppet minions. Like a starfishy version of Thing from Adam's family. I doubt his power would get that strong while he was still a student though.

His strongest Words would be Yaku, Tlacatl and Tempero.

I imagined that he would quickly get Kept after trying to "put the moves" on one of the returning students. I don't think she would be very nice to him, especially after his change. Perhaps she would be the one to "discover" his innate.

I could never think of a suitable name. Besides, if you name him then he would fit into your naming themes better.
