Camp Nano & alpha readers?

I've started on what will be my next Addergoole story for Camp Nano:

Fernley sh'Kendra and the Case of the Missing Orders

As if Fernley's first year at the Addergoole School wasn't going badly enough, suddenly his orders are going missing. Which would be fine, if that meant he didn't still have to follow him. Or that his Master - and how had he ended up with a Master, anyway? - wouldn't still get angry at him.

It's going to be a long year if he doesn't figure this out.

“Don't worry.” The voice cooed over the chanting. “You won't feel a thing. At least, not for long.”

I'm not sure about the names. Current Kept/Keeper are Fernley/Fishel. I'm a lot less sure about Fishel than Fernley, but I'm not totally set on Fernley, either, esp. for a title character. Thoughts?

Wow. I really want to know about how orders manage to go missing!

Hmm, not a fan of the names either--they don't appeal to me and also it could get confusing with them both starting with the same letter. What do they mean, or is there any particular trait you were trying to point out with the names? I mean, Addergoolian names are generally at least a little bit significant...

I'd volunteer to be an alpha reader but I've really been falling down on that--I still have the Rin & Girey nano beta tab open but haven't looked at it in ages...

Fishel means "little fish;" he's Lucian/Thessaly and that one could totally be something else. Watery or monstery.

Fernley means "fern meadow." His dad is Sylvanus; he needs a woodsy foresty name.

I can see Lucian naming his kid after an actual monster. How about Chimaera?

Pan for woodsy foresty? I seem to be on a Greek theme here...

Believe it or not, there's already a Chimera. (Bracken/Fafnir.)

And Pan... I would love, if I didn't have a Pania in year nine.

Pfft. Not really surprised there's already a Chimera, honestly. Gorgon? That seems wrong for a guy, but so does Fernley, for that matter.

Fishel (or whatever his name is now) is was my "placeholder" antagonist bad guy person thing in my Ruki's First Year snippets. I just have to find someone else now~
