ANYTHING other than the usual vampires, werewolves, and love triangles crap. Literally anything.

Werewolf societies where the concept of mates is either explored thoughtfully or rejected entirely. Monsters that are grotesque and weird. Something more to the heroes/heroines than sexiness and scowling.

... when they deal with technology and magic working together (rather than treating them as opposite forces)

... when they don't feature a stupid romance (love triangle, two people who bicker all the time figure out they are actually in love, yadda yadda) or stupid sex scenes ("Sexual Assault Is OK Because It Always Turns Out The Target Likes It" is a particularly icky thing that I've seen repeatedly in urban fantasy, and it's not like I read a lot of it.)

Sorry about that, then. But any love triangle I can remember seeing in urban fantasy involved the woman ending up with the "alpha male", that is, the bigger arsehole. And in romantic subplots not relying on love triangles, the male part was still an "alpha"/huge arsehole.
It got predictable, frustrating, and one of the reasons why I don't read urban fantasy much.
