They could barely get the Door open, and when they finally pushed through, it was obvious why - the building around it had been burned almost to the ground, and a large beam had fallen in front of the Door.

That the door had survived at all was nothing short of miraculous, but they were beginning to believe that the Doors had some mystical protections on them.

It would have needed it.

"That is one hell of a mess." Cole summed it up for them in one tidy package.

"Hell, yes." Josie hissed out quietly.

After Gone Fishing
Girey had complained. He always complained. Rin had met other Bitrani nobles, other Bitrani up and down their army's chain of command. Never had she met one who had managed to complain quite as much as girey did.

But after he'd thrown the line a few times, and, probably more importantly, after he'd caught them two fat fish for dinner, he had stopped complaining and started smiling. Now, Rin couldn't help but smile. They were going to need to smoke fish before they got back on the road.

"I think you missed your calling."

"Hey, have you seen the…? Oh.” Conrad screeched to a halt in the doorway between kitchen and living room. He coughed, tail lashing. "Ah. Hi."

Tolly coughed in response. "Hi, Conrad. I was, uh. I was just leaving."

"No, no..." Conrad's head-shake was so blatantly false, even Kai didn't need to have it explained as a lie. "I was just cooking dinner. Um, Kaia...?"

Cya and one of her Kept during AG:

"This isn’t exactly what I had in mind."

Cya studied Fafnir for a few minutes. He was trying hard not to glare at her, which, considering his general demeanor, was an improvement. "Well, it's what I'm willing to give at the moment. You wanted some time alone in the room."

He jangled the shackles at her wordlessly, and she couldn't help but smirk, just a bit.

Boom:

"Calm down, calm down."

That those words, coming from sa'Taste the Rainbow, were not always the most soothing of things did not appear to occur to Zita, said Taste the Rainbow - or perhaps she liked it better that way. She patted the air with both hands, ignoring, or possibly pushing around, the smoke that was filling the room. "Everything’s going to be fine."

Birthday parties for the kids were always a bit of a challenge anyway. Being Addergoole babies, all four had birthdays within a month and a half of each other, but if you threw one big party, each child needed something special.

Special, however, was different than "cluster fuck," which is what this party was. Emrys grabbed three children - one of them might be theirs - and herded them away from the suddenly-appearing lion.

"Where the fuck did that clown come from?"

Agatha and "Can we pretend I didn’t just say that?" or perhaps, "Stop trying to cheer me up!"

I'm sure both of those would be such cheerful scenes. :)

"I'm sure it's nothing. I'm sure Professor VanderLinden isn't really all that upset. I mean, you're his Student, he's gonna forgive a little slippage now and then, right?" Ofir shook his head. "He's an understanding guy, everyone says, and it's not like it's your fault. You're pregnant, there's me... I'm sure it'll be okay."

"Stop trying to cheer me up!"
