This is from a short story I'm writing, set in my Reiassan setting.
“If it’s just a matter of dodging fireballs…”
“If it were just a matter of dodging fireballs, Cardon, it wouldn’t be a problem. You knew this was going to happen, and you took the job for me anyway.”
“The agency needs the money.” The agent stared up at Lyuda, un-intimidated by the double hand-span of height she had on him. “It’s been a lean year.”
