Bid Here -

and part of my upcoming webserial, Edally Academy: the Angry Aetheist, will forever be named after you or your choice of character.

Mechanics and Engineering House

"My parents knew them." Tairiekie wasn't trying to brag; it was just on her mind. "[NAME HERE], the one they named our House after. I heard it had something to do with [STORY]."

"Are your parents upset? If they went to school with [NAME HERE], then they probably knew all their exploits. Probably did something with them, too." Taikie's roommate Iesovyenyie leaned forward. "I heard it was pretty intense, too. What [NAME HERE] did."

What did [NAME HERE] do? bid here to tell me!

The student and friends stepped out from between the buildings just as Tairiekie was walking by. "...but then there was that problem in Philosophy. I think the instructor hates me."

From the uniform, they were in [INSERT HERE] House, and from the cut of it, they weren't a new student.

"Come on, [NAME HERE], you're blowing it out of proportion. Instructor Pelnyen doesn't hate you. He's just..."

"Instructor Pelnyen," the third of the group filled in.

"See?" Tairiekie murmured to Enrie. "It's not just me."

Or maybe [NAME HERE] is having trouble with Art class, or maybe they're fighting with another student. Maybe they're homesick.

You tell me! Bid here to name and describe this characer.

The Head of the Mechanics' and Engineers' House stood at the front of the hall; it was the first day of classes, and Gaikvya was standing in a crowd with Pizhraa and Kelmoor, her teammates, staring at the person on the dais.

"Welcome to Mechanics and Engineering." [NAME HERE]'s voice boomed across the hall. "Where you will learn the basic building blocks of not only the world, but of society itself."
Gaikvya put a hand over her mouth. [NAME HERE] was impressive, true, but every Head of House today had sad something similar.

Of course, she was in this House, so she was a little more favorably inclined towards [NAME HERE].

Tell me all about [NAME HERE]! Bid here to name and describe this characer.

"Who's that?" Topzetryien pointed at the painting on the wall; the stairs of the dormitory tower were lined with portraits, but several were larger than others. This one, this one had a place of honor and a frame a handspan wide, gilded and trimmed and carved in scrolls and faces.

"Oh, [NAME HERE]?" Dimyezze was in her fifth year at Edally and had appointed herself tour guide for the first-year students. "The Tower was named for [HIM/HER] originally, back in the day when it was just towers. Sometimes you'll still catch people calling the House [NAME] House."

"What did [NAME HERE] do?"

What did [NAME HERE] do? You tell me! Bid here or here.

"Good old [NAME HERE] Hall." Tairiekie's father thumped the thick stone of the building. "Heavy stone, loose roof, isn't that what they say, Dairdo?"

"It's what they say. But you know it isn't true, Biem." Tairiekie's mother shook her head. "The roof is as secure as any other building, Taikie, and don't let your father tell you differently."

"Yes, ma'am." Tairikie ran her hands over the stone. It even felt old. "Who was [NAME HERE?]"

Who was [NAME HERE] (read in robotic voice, a la Futurama), anyway?

Bid here to tell me all about them!

“I wonder why it’s called Maiku1 Hall.” Riensin had only known his three-team for a few days, but he’d already learned that getting Kekdela to talk about things she liked was the easiest way to get herto pay attention to him, and getting Tesdes to talk at all was useful - not because Riensin was particularly interested in Tesdes’ attention, but because when the boy didn’t talk, the teachers started glaring at Kekla, because she always talked, and then Riensin had to juggle both of them being miserable and charm the teachers.

He looked between them now, waiting for one of them to take the bait. “I know that the Houses are all named after successful graduates...”

1. MYE-kuh, or, if you wish, Micah.

Edally Academy: The Angry Aetherist will begin serialization in mid-January, and you (or at least a version of you, or a character or avatar of yours) can be a part of it!

I am auctioning off naming rights to several parts of this fictional Academy, as well as a couple parts of the larger world and two cameo appearances. All names will need to be bent enough to fit into the language of the land (See Micah--> Maiku, Becka-->Beku, although neither pronunciation changes) .

Every House, Hall, person, animal, or meal named via this auction will appear at least briefly in The Angry Aetherist. In addition, they will continue to appear in future Edally Academy serials and e-books, and perhaps in other stories set in this 'verse; in other words, they will truly become a part of my world.

Houses
Edally Academy has nine Houses. Each one concentrates on a specific area of study, and is named after a notable graduate of that House. They have changed names several times over the centuries, as a new achievement trumps an old House Namesake.

Halls
As with any college, Edally Academy has many (9) academic buildings, one for each House. They are each named after a former Instructor, head of House, or Head of the School.

People
Edally Academy is large, full of people, both staff and students.

Things
The world at large has so many corners to fill in. Food dishes, animals... color in the map for me!

Stretch Goals

* For any individual bid that goes over $25, I will not just include the name in the story but write an approx. 350-word piece featuring the named thing prominently.

* For any individual bid that goes over $50, I will commission a portrait of the person (or food or animal...).

* If the bidding reaches a total of $100, I will post a prelude before the end of the calendar year featuring the most highly-bid-on subjects.

More stretch goals to come if we reach these!

Funds will go towards domain name and server space, art, advertising, and other geegaws and doohickeys.

How to Bid:

Each item up for bid has its own comment below. Leave your bid as a reply to the appropriate comment . Please, $1 increments or larger.

If you wish to bid without a DW account, please leave a way to contact you in your bid.

The auction will close at 7 p.m. EST on Sunday, December 22nd. I will contact winning bidders within 24 hours; responses must be received within 2 weeks of contact, or I will move to the next highest bidder.

Happy Bidding!
