Blocked

Sophie woke up to a set of blocks in her bedroom.

She recognized them immediately.  The ones in the bedroom were small, the sort you’d stumble over.  She picked them up one by one and stacked then against the wall in the space room.  If she got them stacked nicely enough, sometimes they would just go away on their own.  If she didn’t...

There, in the hallway, with yellow and black stripes, blocking the whole traffic path, a bigger one, almost up to her hip.  She went around, down the stairs and then up the back stairs.  She’d move the roadblock later.  First, she needed a shower.  And some coffee.

#Livewriting Day begins now!

Prompt Call! From the call, you can leave me a #prompt on the theme of “what if?” (This is gonna be fun)

I’m aiming for 12 hours of #writing with at least 3 breaks, so I’m going to be at this all day.

The idea in long form:  I will write. That's pretty much it.  I'm going to write all day, or as long as I can stand, and see if getting feedback as I go is as entertaining as I hope it will be.

Stop in, leave a comment, wave to me, ask me what's going on, in general, talk to me.  Leave prompts!   I won't be posting anything to this blog until later, if at all (unless I get a volunteer) so right now engaging directly by looking at the docs is the only way to read what I write today!

Cheers, and I hope this is fun all around.

In one week, on Dec. 27th, I am going to do a thing!

That is, I am going to spend a day livewriting.

We at my current job have 6 days off of work for the holidays, you see.  So on Wednesday, I am going to try to be online by 8 a.m. (Eastern time) and write, with two one-hour breaks, for about 12 hours – that means until 10 p.m. or so!

I am going to split the writing between the novel I plan on writing in the first third of 2018 – an Aunt Family novel covering the early days of Evangaline’s Aunthood (for more on the Aunt Family, check out here ) – and an open call for prompts on the theme of “What If.”

My current plan is to use two google docs for this, as they have built-in commenting and revision tracking and  are readily available to most people.  I am willing to hear suggestions for other similar programs, however.

In order for this to be fun, I’m asking that if you have a few minutes, stop in, read, leave a prompt, leave a comment.  Say hi!

After all, if nobody’s reading, it’s not livewriting, it’s just writing.  And I can do that any day!

Wednesday, December 27th
approx. 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Eastern Time

Watch me write!

(if for some reason you cannot come online during that time at all, you may back-channel a prompt or two by sending them to my e-mail.)

(Now soliciting at least one, preferably two volunteers to post short prompt-stories to my blog as they are written)

A two-day weekend feels rather short after a five-day “weekend”, but, on the other paw, I didn’t have to go anywhere all that far away, we didn’t have any major cooking (Barely any cooking at all!), and it turned out to be quite relaxing.

I got a new wobble stool for Black Friday (among other purchases), so this weekend, I tested it out, and found it fun, if a little surprising for my back and thighs for the first couple hours. Mobile computing! Or, at least, computing and being mobile at the same time! It’s actually a lot of fun.

We saw Fantastic Creatures this weekend, too, and that was fun, too; it’s not the most deep of movies, but it was visually beautiful, fun to watch, and has already got me spawning worlds of fic in my mind. I’ll call that worth the matinee ticket price.

Other than that — I wrote, we picked apples, we cleaned up the house a bit, hauled some firewood, and went out to lunch at our local Italian bar food restaurant (fish fry and enough Stromboli for three meals). We made cookies and the last of the turkey broth and… well, pretty much chilled. It was a peaceful weekend, and I’ll take it.

In other news, my Patreon has reached the $40 milestone again! I’m excited to get Nimbus out of the tree and see what adventures she gets up to next! (what, I’m supposed to know? I barely know how she’s getting out of the tree! <.<)

I’m contemplating doing a live-writing something sometime during my ~week plus~ work holiday at the end of December (a whole week! And then a Monday!) Details to follow, if there’s interest.

And if you haven’t checked out Selena Page yet, both the Hallowe’en and Christmas stories are available on Smashwords for free: https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/SelenaPage

Speaking of the holidays, Christmas is coming, I’ve finished my re/watch of the Librarians, and I’ve started watching Elementary, which might prove to be good knitting-tv (I hope so; I have a few projects to knit on relatively short deadlines!)

And Baking! I think I’m going to try making “fancy” cookies for my foodie aunt & uncle who are in ailing health. I can’t give them wine anymore… (not kindly) so cookies it is! Anyone have a favorite “Fancy” cookie recipe, holiday or otherwise?

I hope you, too, had a peaceful weekend, and that the week is fun and productive for you.

I am in a lazy state of being today and will be working on my projects here - http://titanpad.com/UDUgf9lyVo - in a public titanpad, if you're curious to watch me write.

I have a list of 10 projects I'm rotating through, and 40 more to fill the gaps if I actually finish one of those.

I'll be in and out throughout the day, as I try to pick the house up a bit, too.
