Worldbuilding Month Day 1: Folding Universes

March is Worldbuilding Month! Leave me a question about any of my worlds, and I will do my best to answer it!

Which pairs (or more) of these various universes could potentially be folded into one?

That's a good question! Let's see.

I'm not going to count, for the moment, the fact that 2/3 of my space stuff seems like it's in the same world. (Foedus is not). That's not really an established universe.

There's been some speculation/fanfic about Addergoole/Tír na Cali, but that's primarily because Tír na Cali was the parent setting for Addergoole; they don't actually exist in the same place.

Facets can exist in almost any of them! That's because it's a portal fantasy.

I'm not really getting into the spirit of this question, am I?

Science! and Modern Superheroes could and might exist in the same world.

I've speculated about the Aunt Family and either Fairy Town or Stranded World before.

To be honest, I think that's about it. Expectant Wood/Aerax COULD be part of Things Unspoken, but I don't think it is. Oh, and Cracks is probably part of Fairy Town.

I think everything that COULD be folded together already was, back in the dawn of the settings.

Stranded feels very different from Fairy Town or Aunt Family -- the magic as described by the viewpoint characters is so specific in form. That could be all a matter of perspective, but it'd wind up looking/feeling like multiple magical subcultures all hiding from the mundane world *and* somehow remaining oblivious to each other.

Aunt Family and Science! or Aunt Family and Fairy Town I could see existing in the same 'verse. All three together would be a little weirder. In their current threads, I'm not sure it'd be added value for any of them, but I could imagine making it so. That'd be ... sprawly, rather more so than they already are.

Science! could also share with some of the space stuff, but making that meaningful would be a lot of words.

There are a lot of misc snippets that could potentially find homes, but again, lots of planning and words to make it meaningful.

Hm. Science! could be the source of some of the powers in Modern Superheroes. Certainly the Tinkerer (classic: Batman; also shows up as a component of other supers like Wonder Woman and Spiderman; and also appears in the backstory of various others) is a superhero archetype, and that requires a fair bit of mad science.

Having just gone back and re-read some of the Fairy Town stories, I can see that and Dragons Next Door working well together, possibly even better than Fairy Town and Aunt Family. Or possibly all of Fairy Town, Aunt Family, and Dragons Next Door. And having just dug up Cracks, I can see that fitting into Fairy Town just fine.

The magic in Stranded feels rather different from the others. I think shoehorning that into any of Fairy Town/Cracks or Aunt Family would require a lot of bending somewhere.

I think DnD is a little more… obvious… than Fairy Town. It’s also a lot more brightly-colored in my head, if that makes any sense.
